Internal Audit’s Role in Identification and Investigation of Fraud
JOHN A. CHERPOCK
Managing Director of Protiviti, Inc.

John A. Cherpock is a Managing Director of Protiviti, Inc. in the Business Risk Solutions division, based in New York. Mr. Cherpock has significant experience in the areas of litigation consulting, forensic accounting, fraud investigation and bankruptcy/troubled company financial advisory services. He has over 23 years of professional experience in these and other related financial services practices. Throughout his years of experience, Mr. Cherpock has been engaged to advise and/or to render expert witness testimony in cases involving alleged accountant malpractice and other related litigation claims.

Prior to joining Protiviti, Mr. Cherpock founded and partnered a certified public accounting and consulting firm that specialized in litigation consulting services, forensic accounting and investigation, troubled company/bankruptcy consulting, and valuation services. He also co-founded another consulting firm, where he was the director in-charge of the litigation consulting practice. Mr. Cherpock began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co., where he spent nine years in the firm’s New York Metropolitan Audit Group and three years in its Financial Consulting Practices Group, specializing in bankruptcy, litigation and government contract consulting.

Mr. Cherpock earned his undergraduate degree from Queens College and his MBA from Hofstra University. He is a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner.
