Robert Hirth
Managing Director of Protiviti, Inc.
Robert Hirth is a Managing Director of Protiviti, Inc., based in San Francisco, California. Mr. Hirth has more than 25 years of professional services experience working with a broad range of public and private companies in a variety of industries and helping them deal with their most significant business risks and issues. His experience includes external auditing, business and operational consulting, as well as internal audit and business risk management. Mr. Hirth has been active in the internal audit profession and business risk management since 1991. He is a past president of the San Francisco Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and is a regular speaker at IIA conferences. His most recent presentations have revolved around regulation of auditor independence and the concern companies and Audit Committees should have for this issue and the risk management process within organizations, including how the internal and public reporting of such activities should and might evolve in the future. He has significant internal audit director contacts throughout the United States. As the founding and sponsoring executive for Internal Audit Knowledgespace, Mr. Hirth has developed the internet as a learning and resource channel for internal audit and business risk management professionals.
Today, this subscription based learning, news and resource site is unique in the industry and has been recognized as such through several internet community awards. Returning from a 3-year overseas assignment in 1991, where he built and managed an industry consulting practice, Mr. Hirth grew a business risk consulting and internal audit outsourcing practice in Northern California and the Western region of the U.S. to over 200 people.
Mr. Hirth earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University. He is a certified public accountant, licensed in Texas and California, and he is a chartered accountant in Australia.
