Sherrill W. Hudson
Former Group Managing Partner of Florida and Puerto Rico for Deloitte & Touche, LLP
Sherrill W. Hudson is the former Group Managing Partner of Florida and Puerto Rico for Deloitte & Touche, LLP, having retired from the firm in 2002 after 37 years of service. He began his career as an auditor in the Dayton, Ohio office of Deloitte, where he was promoted to partner in 1974 and then became managing partner two years later. He served in that capacity for seven years, during which time the office doubled in size. In 1983, Mr. Hudson transferred to Miami to become the Group Managing Partner for Florida and Puerto Rico. Under his leadership, the practice became one of the firm’s top performers, receiving special recognition for outstanding results in profitability, human resources, retention and advancement of women and client service. During 19 years of tenure in Florida, Mr. Hudson coached and developed over 30 partners who assumed leadership roles in other parts of the firm. Mr. Hudson served as Advisory Partner for numerous clients, such as Spherion, Miami Dolphins, and Office Depot. He attended over 500 audit committee meetings as well as many board of directors meetings. He made numerous presentations on auditing and accounting matters, mergers and acquisitions, and audit committee roles and responsibilities.
Currently, Mr. Hudson serves as a business consultant to the law firm of Ferrell Schultz Carter Zumpano & Fertel and to the NYSE money management firm of Neuberger Berman, both in Miami, Florida. He also serves on several corporate boards and committees. Mr. Hudson serves on the boards of directors and audit committees for Publix Super Markets, Inc., The Standard Register Company, where he also serves on the compensation committee, and TECO Energy, Inc., where he also serves on the finance committee. Mr. Hudson also serves on numerous boards and committees in the Miami community, such as American Cancer Society and United Way.
Mr. Hudson earned his undergraduate degree from Ashland University. He is certified public accountant, licensed in Ohio and Florida.
